Maybe someone is resurrecting the Clinton gang -- circa 1980s -- comprising of a mix of mafia, CIA, DEA and foreign drug cartels...hell, maybe they're looking to escalate that highly successful Fast and Furious program and have to set up a major air freight distribution operation. The .50 cal will monitor operational security from afar....or it's just typical misuse of tax payer money for more play toys for politicians....

Volk had a post about a cheaper .50 I was unaware of: http://olegvolk.net/blog/2012/09/24/leader-50-finally-enters-productions/

That might actually be reachable for me in a year or two.

I remember reading about a Vickers representative in the 1920's presenting an AA weapon to some asian government representatives. The Chinese representative asked for a repeat of the rate of fire and cost per round. When the numbers, which escape me at the moment, were stated the Chinese man said: "This gun fires much too rapidly for China.

Places like "Cheaper Than Dirt" and "ShotgunNews" regularly run ads for new and milsurp .50 BMG rounds at around $5.00 per pop. Like a Ford GT40 or a P-51 Mustang, for most of us a Barret is way cool to look at but strictly in the dream world when it comes to ownership.

Come on, Dutchman6! If I dropped one off at your house as a present today, after all the excitement and wrapping paper were cleared away, how would you and Rosie feed the damn thing?

One commentor said it should only be used for hostage situations. I agree, politicians are holding us hostage for the corporatists and the FSA.
