An Open Letter to Bill Press: Regarding your proposal for a bloody civil war, just how many millions of us do you want dead?

Bill Press: He may have been drunk when he wrote the column below, but I don't think he can plead diminished capacity when he is convicted for violating the Law of Unintended Consequences.
"Bill Press: Praise the Lord -- and stockpile the ammunition."

Subject: RE: Your proposal for a bloody civil war over firearms. How many millions of us do you want dead?
"Don't get me wrong. I believe in the Second Amendment. And, as a Scalia originalist, I believe we should take it literally. Let's bring back, in every state, as the Constitution so clearly calls for, a "well-regulated militia." Let's require its gun-toting members to carry and clean their own single-shot muskets, to wear the militia uniform, and to go out and drill once a month with fellow minutemen. But let all other guns be banned. . . There is no need for anyone, outside the military, to own an assault weapon. There is no need for anyone, outside of law enforcement, to have a handgun." -- Bill Press.
Dear Mr. Press,
I note with interest your proposals for the forcible disarmament of the American citizenry laid out in your recent column, "Praise the Lord -- and stockpile the ammunition." ( http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/opinion/x1602164926/Press-Praise-the-Lord-and-stockpile-the-ammunition )
I was just wondering how many millions of bodies of your fellow citizens are you willing to stack up to achieve that end? Will a million be enough? Three million? Five? Twenty? For surely you must recognize that there are people in this country who are willing to die for the Founders' principles of liberty and right to property. These are God-given and inalienable and do not depend upon any Constitution, law, politician's whim, and certainly not on your preference. More disconcertingly for you and your tyrannical, confiscationist ilk, people who are willing to die for their principles are most often willing to kill in defense of them as well, usually by a much larger ratio than one to one. So I ask you again, how many millions of us are you willing to kill, you bloodthirsty bastard, and how many of your side are you willing to see dead in your cause as well? Is it worth my life to you? The lives of all my family? Is it worth your life? Starting to have doubts?
Do not extrapolate from your own cowardice. Just because you would obey any government diktat that threatened you with prison or death doesn't mean others will. You may think us wrong, or even insane, but you cannot deny we exist in the millions, us "bitter clingers." So face the issue squarely and tell us now -- before the government begins shooting us in your proposed bloody civil war -- how many millions of dead Americans are you willing to see in order to get your way?
Otherwise, quit smoking what you're shoveling and shut up about disarming the rest of us. It can't be done without an exercise in tyranny that would make the Holocaust look like a picnic. For unlike Hitler's victims, we are armed, trained in the use of those arms, and intend to stay that way.
But, by all means, if you are willing to name a number and have the courage of your convictions, be sure and come yourself when the Feds raid the first house.
Sincerely,
Mike Vanderboegh

As an originalist, he must surely realize that the 1st Amendment can not apply to computers, the internet, and high speed presses.

Federalist paper 28:

"If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no resource left but in the exertion of that original right of self-defense which is paramount to all positive forms of government, and which against the usurpations of the national rulers, may be exerted with infinitely better prospect of success than against those of the rulers of an individual state. In a single state, if the persons intrusted with supreme power become usurpers, the different parcels, subdivisions, or districts of which it consists, having no distinct government in each, can take no regular measures for defense. The citizens must rush tumultuously to arms, without concert, without system, without resource; except in their courage and despair. The usurpers, clothed with the forms of legal authority, can too often crush the opposition in embryo. The smaller the extent of the territory, the more difficult will it be for the people to form a regular or systematic plan of opposition, and the more easy will it be to defeat their early efforts. Intelligence can be more speedily obtained of their preparations and movements, and the military force in the possession of the usurpers can be more rapidly directed against the part where the opposition has begun. In this situation there must be a peculiar coincidence of circumstances to insure success to the popular resistance."

As an originalist, he must understand that radio and television broadcasts are not covered, nor any other modern form of communication. Speak loudly in the public square, with no microphones and amplified sound. Print your broadsheet of opinions one page at a time using hand set type. Mind your p's and q's.

As an originalist, he must understand that there are no local or national police or even government funded fire departments. The definition of "arms" is all encompassing, not restricted by length, caliber, means of ignition, or quantity. Private ownership of cannon and grenades is allowed. Swords and double edged knives are allowed. Rifles and muskets must have bayonets to be useful to protect the bearer when you cannot reload quick enough. If you cannot afford a rifle or musket and bayonet, your local town will provide one to you. If you are an able-bodied adult, you are expected to assemble with your fellow townsmen to practice with your weapons. Failure to do so will mean ostracism and loss of business from your fellow townsmen that perceive that you are unwilling to take up your fair share of the burden for providing for the defense of your community. Good luck in putting out that house or barn fire by yourself when your building burns. If you are a merchant like John Hancock transporting high value goods, your ships will be equipped with cannon crewed at your own expense. Defense of personal property is your personal responsibility.

Remember, application of "tar and feather" and being run out of town perched on a fence rail were not considered "cruel and unusual" punishment.

As always, acquisition, possession and proper use of weapons is benign. Misuse is the problem. Unfortunately, some think that the best way to catch a particular species of fish is to drain the pond dry, killing all the fish.

Gag orders and a few details;

Is anything based on facts in the "media" or is all based on lies and agenda? Nothing is what it appears. "Everything gov says is a lie, and everything they have is stolen".

Haven't you written the same thing before fairly recently? say, last week or two?
Just keep it up Mike. These collectivists won't get the message until you give it to them, one round at a time.

OK, since we have the utter need to rid the country of its handguns and "assault" rifles lets talk logistics.
Lets say a law does get passed that bans these weapons, what now?
The grace period, in which the owners of these weapons will turn them over to you?
That will get the cowards to turn them in.
After the grace period when it becomes clear that a very large chunk of these weapons have not been turned in, what then?
Your side will make examples of a few people and offer another grace period.
That grace period passes with results similar to the first.
Now, you cant just let people get away with insolence can you?
So you act. You do something very stupid, because there is nothing else you can do. Any action you decided to take at that point would have been stupid. Except for just forgetting the whole thing.

Seriously just forget the whole thing, all the anti gunners please come to the realization that a firearm is a paperweight until you put a man behind it. Understand that man is sometimes evil and he will do evil things. There is no stopping that.
There are those among us in the firearm community that will not back down another inch. Dont push that extra inch. I fear it will be a bad result.
Logistically there is no way for you to succeed in this endeavor. Give up.
The only thing that will come of your attempt at utopia is blood. And having seen combat I can tell you it is not what you want.
Those leaders who mean to attempt to carry this sort of thing out dont want this on their hands.
Give up.

Dear Bill "Press",

Don't even try hiding behind the First Amendment. Does anyone really believe that, in writing the Bill of Rights, our Founding Fathers intended to authorize building a secret paper supply in your own apartment? Or that they thereby gave future generations the green light to buy a personal computer, purchase multiple printers, and carry a concealed smart phone into a bar, shopping mall, church, or movie theater? Nonsense.

Don't get me wrong. I believe in the First Amendment. And, as a Scalia originalist, I believe we should take it literally. Let's bring back, in every state, a "well-regulated press." Let's require its members to carry and clean their own Guttenberg presses, to wear the printer's apron, and to go out and practice type-setting once a month with fellow printers. But let all other communication devices be banned.

There is no need for anyone, outside the government, to own a computer. There is no need for anyone, outside of White House press corps, to have a laser printer. If we really value life, it's time to do something about mass communication. If not now, when?

I laughed out loud when he wrote

"was able to build what the police called a 6,000-round arsenal"

I'm just thinking...F...king amateur! What are you going to shoot the next day?

We need to press our congressmen and Senators to repeal the law banning dueling. If dueling were legal, it would permanently end so many left-right arguments and we could move on to more pressing issues. This pro/con banter is getting old. Lets move the debate on to a field of honor like the gentlemen of yesteryear.

This old and tired BS about the muskets again. It so happens that the Brits carried muskets themselves, so there was an equilibrium. Now the potential tyrants carry M-16s and the AR-15 is close to a modern-day equilibrium. These clowns get it, but want it their way with literary license. In other words, lying and obfuscation. This idiot Press sounds even stupider on his Sirius Channel 127 show.

Mike, good rebuttal but I think you missed a critical point. In his opening paragraph press intimates that the punk in Aurora was able to acquire all his 'evil' arms and munitions without ANY screening - and even subtly hints that he was already a 'nut case' while doing so. We all know all of the forms that MUST be filled out for dealer purchases and proof of age (at the least) for ammo purchases, either at a local retailer or via the internet. An uninformed or uneducated (hmmm sounds like most of the anti-gun crowd) would easily believe that anyone can go out and buy any and all arms/ammo as well as 'body' armor with no checks whatsoever. And that is exactly the impression he meant to leave.

Ed at 1:28PM nailed it in the first 2 sentences of his last paragraph. 'Nuff said.

Tell em like it is !. These people, as it is with all war monger`s will not be personally taking part in the festivities when they commence. "Invincible in peace , Invisible in war ".As the architect`s of our country`s demise intend to reside offshore while their handiwork play`s itself out, they should keep this in mind , " Find a place you really like , because if the corporate fascist oligarchy is ousted - you are now in exile, your not coming back here when the Constitutional Republic is restored. Mike,
Do you know anything about Sharyl Attkisson's recent tweet?

"Expecting some potential #FastandFurious news this coming week, but am travelling. Will try to get to it all."

Good news, bad news or same old news?

Look at Romania. Naw, that's ancient history. Maybe look at Syria instead. The rebels must be succeding because they all had 3 guns and 6,000 rounds apiece. NOT!

Now fast-forward to the day we hit the reset button. They've got us surrounded, the poor bastards.

Maybe Bill Press and Rachel Maddow will lead the charge against the bitter, clinging Threepers.

I laughed at the 6000 round arsenal comment too. My son and I have shot up 300 rounds in an afternoon!

Good thing I have over 15000 rounds on .556 left in inventory, along with 7500 rounds of .45 acp and 25000 rounds of .22 long rifle.

For me that is a comfortable level of stock that will last about a half year.

Press has not made any sense since he was a local commentator on KABC-TV in LA back in the late 60's. The only truthful thing he ever said was that he is a: "Proud Liberal". He will be cowering in his bed when the time comes.

The BS thats coming out about the 5 ATF agents being solely responsible for F&F is nauseating. Holder, Jarrett, Obambie, Naps, and Clinton are up to their necks in this. I truly believe this whole scheme was concocted between these idiots with the hope of people rising up to demand gun control. Am I missing something here?
