Reviews of Field Marshal Holder's Self-Inflicted Defeat.

M. Catherine Evans: Holder hits bottom - keeps digging.

AG Eric Holder sounds all powerful in his latest attempt to wriggle out of his role in the Fast and Furious operation, but hubris catches up to everybody. A smart lawyer would never put into writing what he can't defend, but Holder did exactly that. After a week of aggressive reporting by CBS' Sheryl Attkisson, the Attorney General tried defending himself in a letter to Congress.

Bob Ownes: Punch-Drunk Eric Holder Swings Back at Critics, Hits Self.

Friday was just another day in a continuing series of bad days for the administration of President Barack Obama, as the furor surrounding the executive branch’s gun-walking scandal continues to escalate.

Here is an idea. I note that there is a lot of activity in demands that Eric Holder resign or otherwise be removed from office. I would tender the idea that we are better off if he STAYS in office. The way he is currently flailing around he, through sheer incompetence, is very likely to throw a round through those closest to him and thus tie State, DHS, FBI, White House to his own sinking ship. Worth pondering

I notice that Holder is blaming “loopholes” in gun control laws for his problems. I respectfully submit; there are no “loopholes”. Laws are worded by lawyers with the expectation that other word-twisting lawyers will attempt to find a way around them. Therefore, laws are written in such a manner that they say exactly what the writer wishes them to mean. If a control freak happens to run across a law, portions of which he disagrees with, he always claims loopholes exist and does his best to convince others, particularly judges to agree with him.
