"President Obama says that he has “complete confidence” in Attorney General Eric Holder."

That’s good news for Republicans. Pick almost any unnecessary, losing battle in Obama’s first term, and his hapless attorney general is at the center of it.

If not for the fact that so many of Holder’s decisions harm national security, he would be a political dream come true for the GOP – delivering up reliably disastrous controversies for the president every few months.

The latest controversy over whether Holder misled a House committee on “Operation Fast and Furious” — the botched federal gun sting that allowed hundreds of weapons to flow to Mexican drug cartels and resulted in the death of an ATF agent — is only the most recent of these debacles. . .

One such failure is a mistake; this many is a pattern of gross incompetence.

Or, of doing exactly and precisely what his ideology-driven boss wants him to do.

Christian Patriot III said...: I had to laugh when CNN had Jim Cavanaugh on as their fast and furious "expert" today... talking allll about what ATF did wrong and what they should have done.

It was one of those laughs heavy with irony that really doesn't bring one any joy.

The Shocker said...: I'm so sick of hearing the phrase "failed gun tracking strategy" or "ATF failed gun sting". It was not, couldn't be and NEVER WAS either of those.

The DNC must be sweating 20mm rounds at this point, wondering just how bad the damage will be. It's only the media's full-court blockade that's kept this from utterly destroying the Obama administration (really, does ANYONE believe they'd be this quiet if it was a Republican on the hot seat? Yeah, didn't think so).

But the weight is adding up. Issa and Grassley have to be smelling blood, and if Holder doesn't suffer a fatal accident he may wind up being told 'testify or go to jail'.; October 10, 2011 at 10:00 PM
