Another Fast and Furious? Cornyn demands information on ATF operation in Texas.

Outstanding.

Sen. John Cornyn took a stand against the gun walking that has been reported in Texas. Gun walking is a practice similar to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ “Fast and Furious” operation, which is now undergoing intense scrutiny in a congressional investigation.

Under the program, ATF agents did not intercept firearms that were suspected of going to drug cartels, but instead attempted to follow the firearms to lead them to gangs’ higher-ups. Problems arose when those firearms were later used in violent crimes and killings.

Cornyn today sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder requesting information about any gun walking operations in Texas.

“Unfortunately, the Department of Justice has been less than forthcoming during congressional investigations into the failed ‘Operation Fast and Furious,’” Cornyn wrote. “I believe it is important that you promptly disclose the details of any past or present Texas-based ATF ‘gun-walking’ program similar to ‘Operation Fast and Furious.’ My constituents deserve a full accounting of any such activities in Texas.”

At this point, all 100 Senators should have already Individually written letters and sent them to Eric Holder.

The same holds true for each and every House member as well.

If Democrats refuse, while all Republicans do so, well, that shows what it does, huh.

DOJ is stonewalling? I would argue that a great many elected officials in both houses of Congress are doing some stonewalling of their own by choosing to remain silent.

With any luck, this will serve as an instance of leading by example. Maybe this could be the moment where the stones start to fall creating an avalanche as many, many more join the few who have already stood up individually asking the direct questions.

Additionally, the Richardson factor and New Mexico factor is still sticking in my gut. DPRK contacts, and over arms......seems to me Richardson may get caught up in this somehow, eventually. It is just his style.

For Ashrak:
Do you really believe that Snowe would write such a letter? How about Collins? McCain? Graham? Murkowski?

As I have said before, one would be lucky to get 30 votes for removal in the Senate if the Muslim in Chief was impeached, no matter HOW EGREGIOUS the charges and HOW CERTAIN the proof. No difference here.

@ Mark Matis-------
Two things.
Firstly You are RIGHT ON TARGET in saying that just because a legislator is a republican does NOT mean he/she is a friend to liberty. Just look at history. Peter king, a NY repub, is a notorious hoplophobe, Bush I, another repub, was responsible for both the importation ban and the ruby ridge incident, the republican governor of oklahoma vetoed a firearms freedom act passed by both houses of the state leglislature, on and on and so forth. the more people who realize this, the better.
secondly, I take a bit of issue with your choice of adjectives concerning that punk Hoebama. Him being Muslim, scientoligist, a unitarian jew, a baptist zorastitarian(sp?), or whatever matters ZERO, at least to me. He shouldn't be president, not because of his religion, and yes, I would vote for a muslim for POTUS if they respect the constiution and liberty, but because of his total lack of respect for what america was founded on and stands for

I've been sending Cornyn e-mails about this crap since January. I guess he decided to get up off of his dead ass and do his job, finally. This guy is a Fudd Republican, and is stuck somewhere in the 1970's.

In Connecticut, my congressman (Courtney) and Senator Lieberman both responded that this is all part of project gun runner, started under W. Bush; no mention of fast&furious as if it didn't exist. I counter responded that I know more about what's going on than they OR they are deliberately attempting to obfuscate the facts. Not that an email or call will get you anywhere with these people.

I allege that President Obama and Eric Holder conveyed the message to BATFE, that they want to create a “Gun Issue” and help Hillary Clinton’s anti-gun agenda and their world wide ban on guns. “Never let a good crisis go to waste.” This "Gun" deals are Top down not bottom up.

I sent Cornyn, Hutchison, and Gov. Perry. Letters and e-mails months ago.

Received a letter from one of Perry's aides stating that he has no control over what federal agents do in Texas. Received form letters from the senators.

All of a sudden, the sun comes up and the light shines! Who'd a thunk it?
