You know, comrades," says Stalin, "that I think in regard to this: I consider it completely unimportant who in the party will vote, or how; but what is extraordinarily important is this — who will count the votes, and how.
This is why nothing could reliably replace the security of an on site paper ballot.
Anything electronic is subject to hacking. A simple paper and pencil in the hands of a voter is far more secure.
The money spent on electronic voting machines should have been spent on CCTV cameras and gallows to watch those who do the counting and to hang those caught trying to throw the elections.
Not to change the subject. We have some type of cold virus thats hitting hard in NYC metro area. Lasting 3-6 weeks. First symptoms are scratchy throat, running nose leading to loss of voice for a day or two. Then a raspy cough lasting about 3-5 weeks with some weight loss in between. They dropping a load on us to weaken us before something big??????
Anonymous at 2:11 said better than I could what I wanted to say. I will only add that anybody with any serious knowledge of computers and networks will just snort and giggle if you mention computerized voting to him.
I have NEVER been in favor of electronic voting. I am not an "IT Professional", don't even play one on TV, but I know enough about computers and especially software to know that there is nothing in the world so easy to do and do untraceably than spoofing an electronic data system. It is just too easy to do if you know enough about computers.
No system is perfect. Any system made is going to have some parts that will cause confusion in SOME people. But electronic systems are the least secure way of voting that I can imagine.
Of course, if your GOAL is to be able to control the outcome of elections, electronics offer the easiest way to do that.
Sidebar: There was a blurb on the news recently about a woman picked up by the Texas AG's office. Seems she voted something like SIX times in 08. Even used her own dead sister's ID one of those times. The report did NOT mention anything about which party she voted for. I figure the newsies would have been ALL OVER it if she'd voted Republican so she likely voted Dumbocrat.

300,000 taxpayer dollars and some kids hack the system! Wow, glad my money is being given to such competent people.

Yup, paper ballots, baby.
