Exactly. "For what and for whom"..They can call it whatever "ism" they want for it's movements name - Socialism, communism, fascism,it's all run by the monied class. It's for their benefit and not the people's. The name is only to get the suckers to sign on to fight for it.
I have to marvel that the "old guys" always think it's a great idea for the "young guys" to serve their country in some form of "mandatory" service at or near the minimum wage, that always excludes the "old guys" from mandatory service. If WWI is not evidence that fathers will kill their own sons, I'm not sure what is.
A condition of compulsory service or labor performed by one person, against his will, for the benefit of another person due to force, threats, intimidation or other similar means of coercion and compulsion directed against him.
In considering whether service or labor was performed by someone against his will or involuntarily, it makes no difference that the person may have initially agreed, voluntarily, to render the service or perform the work. If a person willingly begins work but later desires to withdraw and is then forced to remain and perform work against his will, his service becomes involuntary. Also, whether a person is paid a salary or a wage is not determinative of the question as to whether that person has been held in involuntary servitude. In other words, if a person is forced to labor against his will, his service is involuntary even though he is paid for his work.
Yes, the draft is Involuntary Servitude as mentioned in the 13th Amendment.
If a country cannot raise a sufficient volunteer army for a campaign abroad, then perhaps its leaders should rethink that campaign.
Furthermore, if a country's citizens do not wish to volunteer to fight to save their country, then that country's culture has failed to the point where maybe it is time for that country to go away.
Hawaii was not a state when Pearl Harbor was attacked, but millions of young men volunteered to join the military all the same.
Remember that "National Civilian Army" that King Putt called for? You know, the thing he wants that's just as powerful and well-funded as the military? His version of the Hitler Youth.
HR163 (108th session), the `Universal National Service Act of 2003'.
