If you don't hit your target you MIGHT scare it to death.

1. with the $200 tax stamp and paperwork BS and LEO sign off on SBRs this is a middle finger to THE NFA.
2. these are good for CQB and other close in short range conflicts.
3. they make really neat and practical "car" guns. If you have a CCL you can keep one loaded and next to the seat depending on your state. compact enough to use or manuever in a car, big enough to put down most attacks.
IMHO, Different tools for different jobs. PAP M92 will ring steel out at 200 yards while using fundamentals. There are aftermarket flash suppressors available, and recoil ain't no thing. Insofar as regulations, law, and legality are concerned I ask...what freeman request permission to be so?
The solution to the drawbacks listed is 300aac. Full velocity out of a 9" barrel, no excessive flash or report. Being a pistol also means it can be transported legally while loaded unlike a rifle (in most places).
Have a couple myself....as well as SBRs b/c when I was younger I foolishly believed I wasn't a criminal, so why NOT allow myself to be treated as one, fingerprinted and told just how and when I could exercise my 2A rights....I mean, after all, it was for a cool new toy! Ya, I was a dumb ass.
Now, I realize the advantages of these "pistols" with arm braces is that you don't have to ask permission to travel state to state, you don't have to get printed or go through the trust paperwork hassle, you don't have to e-file (in violation of the NFA by issuing an electronic tax stamp that doesn't meet the NFA requirements), you don't pay $200 more to support a corrupt government, you don't have to wait......
And....you get something small and compact with enough punch to get through a cement block in the case of 7.62x39.
I can think of no place where I would prefer one of those hearing ruination, sight destroying things. Every weapon has its uses. Home defense, I prefer a handgun or shotgun. Car defense, handgun and knife ....let's be honest here, how you gonna get that thing deployed when the magazine is grabbing the gear shift, blinker, steering wheel etc. On the street, L O L, on patrol, yeah right.

When I saw the title I thought you were writing about M-44s :-)
All that silliness just to shorten a rifle.
The real reason for the SBS and SBR crap was that the original NFA included a pistol ban.
The word "silencer" was substituted for "pistol" at the last moment by a pro-gunner in a Senate committee.
Wow. I'm stunned that BATF actually made a sane regulatory decision.

YMMV
