New Jersey’s Ammo Law Would Destroy Legacies To Go After Chris Christie

A legal restriction on the number of cartridges a gun can hold, a proposal that has bounced around the State House for more than a year, has just one hurdle left before it lands on Governor Christie’s desk.

Since Christie doesn't understand the purpose of the Second Amendment and is ultimately a gun grabber, I'll bet he signs that bill into law. I will not vote for Christie in the Republican Primary. I would only vote for him in the general election, if he wins the nomination, against a damned democrat, which I would despise even more than Christie.

One of the comments to the original article mentioned compulsory arms ownership, a concept once practiced in the American Colonies for the common defense of a community by the members of of a community - in other words, the militia:

Searching online for "compulsory weapons ownership", I found links to the Swiss militia training system:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Switzerland

And this in Nucla, Colorado following the lead of Nelson, Georgia:

http://www.syracuse.com/news/index.ssf/2013/05/mandatory_gun_ownership_law_passed_in_colorado.html

"Recently, however, a lawsuit was filed against Nelson by The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. According to BizPac Review, the lawsuit was designed "to establish that the government does not have the authority to compel Americans to buy guns or bring them into their homes.""

Conversely, using the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, one could also easily argue that government has no authority to PROHIBIT Americans from buying guns or keeping them in their homes or elsewhere. So, which is it, Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence? It appears that the Brady Center came to the same conclusion, even if they express it poorly:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/23/nelson-georgia-guns_n_3805292.html

"The Brady Center applauded the city council's decision in a statement:

“The Constitution protects not just the right to bear arms, but the right not to bear arms,” said Jonathan Lowy, Director of the Legal Action Project at the Brady Center. “The Brady Center brought this lawsuit to establish that the Constitution protects the rights of gun owners and non-gun owners alike, and all of us must be respectful of each other’s rights. We are pleased that as a result of our lawsuit the City of Nelson has recognized that the Second Amendment protects the rights of the hundreds of millions of Americans who believe that the best way to keep themselves and their families safe is by keeping guns out of their homes.”"

Uh... No.

NJ gun owners should never - ever - forget total and complete confiscation of all privately-held firearms is the goal of NJ's "progressives". When this bill succeeds, (as it inevitably will), NJ gun owners can look forward to having their scoped bolt-action rifles being banned as "sniper weapons", their muzzle-loaders as "terrorist weapons" , and even their hunting bows and arrows as "public hazards". >Jeff
