These types of rights violations are becoming much more common. It is too bad Mr. Sorenson did not receive ten times the amount for his inconvenience. He was very smart not to try to touch his pistol or "resist arrest". It was also good that his partner covered his actions by recording them. Officers should be aware of law changes that occurred ten years in the past.
I would never have settled for $23,500. The "non-disclosure" clause in the agreement would have a price tag of a million. If there were also a clause where the city admits no wrong-doing, that would be another million. Now,,lets negotiate. By the way, did anyone else notice that the arresting officer was none other than Elijah Cummings?
