Today a new iron curtain is descending. . . It is a wall of words. A wall of laws, regulations and mandates. The 2012 Federal Register had 78,961 pages. There are 11 million words of ObamaCare regulations alone. With so many regulations, everyone violates a few of them without even knowing it. Assemble all the millions of them together and you have a great wall that would dwarf anything in China. The American iron curtain is still made out of paper, but in time it will be made out of cement and iron. Tyrannies begin with paper, but end with metal. The state begins by imposing bureaucracy on a free people and ends by imposing tyranny on them. When they will not obey the paper, it resorts to steel, iron and lead.

Funny thing about laws. The more you make, the more they are ignored (we already are said to commit 3 felonies a day without even trying). If you eventually succeed in mandating or prohibiting all possible human behaviors, all you have accomplished is to spread anarchy (in the good sense of the word), and the minions who insist on attempting to enforce these laws will be looked at as simple thugs to be shot down without mercy.
The only time laws make sense (if they make any sense at all, which is questionable), is when those affected by them know every one of them. That is of course only possible when their number is few, and when essentially everybody agrees with them.
I find the article a bit too defeatist to my taste. We won't end up in the gulag, never fear. Too many guns and hard asses out here.
