"Fusion Centers and the Maryland Spying Scandal." "Homeland security is a byproduct of business-government collaboration."
Forwarded to me by a friend in Maryland, I missed this back when it first appeared. It comes from a left-wing perspective but it is even more relevant now. That creepy ole "mission creep."
While government and security industry experts discuss fusion centers with some candor, critical analyses remain at the margins of public consciousness and the mass media. A number of problems about fusion centers are nonetheless evident. The practice of drawing inferences from raw pieces of information known as "data mining" becomes more subjective as investigators gather more information. Even though data is arranged according to established patterns of human behavior, it is still just educated guess work.
Most regional fusion centers also lack clear lines of authority. Many are located on federal property and depend on federal funding and personnel from the military and the intelligence community. State and local jurisdiction is further compromised by direct corporate influence in known cases, which breaks down the wall between public service and private interest. To Michael German fusion centers open the way for secrecy and "mission creep."

What could go wrong....?
Freedom sure has a lot of self-serving enemies, and just think, WE GET TO PAY FOR ALL OF IT....!
A fusion center is located in my hometown. You do not want to stop or break down on the road near it, or you will be approached by armed people.
I remember calling them once about a Canadian fraudster using a local mail drop to receive checks from his scams. Our dispatcher had to provide an unusual amount of information, for little in return. Still not sure what they actually do there.
The fusion is already complete. The "USA" is itself a corporation. That's why the "government" could just take over General Motors. It was just one corporation taking over another. It's also why Barry can be CEO- the constitution doesn't bind a private sector corporation.
Why do local units of government refuse paper reserve notes as payment for taxation? Why do others who do take reserve notes get so excited when folks pay "fines" in coins rather than reserve notes? Why does the fed itself refuse open audit and why doesn't "congress" force one when it clearly has the constitutional authority?
It's all the same. We have a country lorded over by a court of 9 robed kings, unelected jesters, who function as a board with ultimate authority and they do rule by decree. Checks and balances ? Constitutional limitations? Hardly. Those 9 do literally WHATEVER they want - including simply ignoring the most basic function of addressing formal petitions for redress of even the most obvious of grievances. They simply refuse to take on "cases" they do not want to answer. The commerce clause precedent that amended the constitution (actually just the most obvious ruling that simply ignores it) is a perfect example.
What can we do about "paying for it "?
Not a damn thing until the sheeple wake up to the truth that our Constitution must be RESTORED as the binding force upon those claiming to govern. Remember, it comes down to CONSENT! We must DENY our consent - openly.
Economic freedom is the uniting point we must ralley around! Exacting the fact the privileges and immunities MEANS rights! That it's what each can do and that we cannot be punished for doing. And ultimately that unless we are STATES, INDIAN TRIBES or FOREIGN POWERS that government of REPUBLICAN FORM ( state local or federal) has NO AUTHORITY to "regulate commerce" between free human beings. IOW, that we must restore the sanctity of private two party contracts and indeed the Original contract called the Constitution.
We must TEACH our countrymen that they have a choice and that they are responsible for the choice they make. The Fusion we witness is our fault. We are choosing it - because we are, as hard as it is to accept, allowing it to continue absent execution of our duty to stand up and fight to stop it.

Idiot runners world columnist calls for banning all pistols and "assault rifles" bc they are only made to kill people. Meanwhile, he poses with a semi auto shotgun used in multiple wars and is fine with bolt action big bore hunting rifles that have also been used as sniper rifles!
Check out the huge backlash in the comments section! Hundreds of angry responses and promises to cancel that are running probably 50 to 1 against the idiot gun banner. We should all boycott the mag and its sponsors.
I'm surprised that the article didn't mention INFRAGUARD, as a tool for Fusion Center intelligence gathering. They can deny it all they want, but I believe I've seen a personal example of it with the Pittsburgh Fusion Center. INFRAGUARD is bigger and more intrusive than anyone can imagine.
