That old "bird in the hand" thing.

Almost Learning the Hard Way

It never ceases to amaze me how many people, even trained ones, drift into complacency. If the gun is not at your finger tips, you are unarmed. Radio, TV, newspapers carry stories daily of forceable entry into homes, even in daylight. Why is it people always think it will happen to someone else? Why not go through life with the mind set, they are coming for me? Then, when they do, be ready and be sure there are not as many to bother your neighbor. Good citizenship.

I have raised to adulthood 2 daughters and a son and I have never had or would I ever own a gun safe. My guns are accessible everywhere. This guy was lucky, and I hope he has learned a valuable lesson. Deadbolts and even iron doors will not keep you safe .... sister firearm will be there when you need her unless you abandon her to a dank locked safe.

I for one am less the six feet max from a loaded and ready firearm in my house. Many times less then that. After some instances were mine were needed for that special emergency and were close to hand experience is the best teacher. Sometimes we only get one chance to learn. I was brought up to be ready, trained to be the same. Lessons learned and practiced on a daily basis.
