Toomey bucks gun owners in background check deal

That Toomey and Manchin both had been given "A" ratings by the National Rifle Association adds to the puzzlement among right to keep and bear arms advocates, many of whom will also be keeping a close eye on how the NRA will grade them in response. Another question that might be asked: Why did NRA not issue a very public warning that any caving would result in an automatic downgrading and a commitment to deny future support to defectors abandoning their gun-owning core constituents in time of greatest need?

It is important to understand that these are not "traitors" to the NRA. They did exactly what the NRA wants. The NRA is NOT a pro-RKBA organization. It is a highly profitable fundraising organization that specializes is raises money from gun owners under the false auspices of being pro-RKBA. Think on that. That is why the NRA does things like draft gun bans, sign off on NFA'34, GCA'68, GCA'86, and the Brady Bill. That's why they gone into states to kill constitutional carry just as the locals had it set to pass.

If there were no "gun control" to oppose, there would be no rationale for raising money from gun owners. These A-rated senators did exactly what they were supposed to do: invoke cloture so yet another victim disarmament bill could go forward. Those on the NRA's email lists are probably already seeing the new money appeals to "fight" S.649.

But note: They invoked cloture. That wasn't yet a vote on S.649. So the scumbags get to have it both ways. They advance victim disarmament by allowing the bill to go forward, but will be able to say, "But I didn't vote for the bill."

Toomey and Manchin join Reid as "staunch defenders of The Second Amendment".

Don't expect any help from the Necrotic Republican Appendage (h/t LNS). They're so busy Negotiating Rights Away they've become Not Relevant Anymore.
