"The Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act." The NRA weeniewagon is out of the Fairfax garage again. "Background checks" are not a part of "gun control." Really?

ABC reports on the upcoming great dead elephant party/NRA sellout: Senators Crack Impasse on Gun Background Check
I’ve got to tell you candidly, I don’t consider background checks to be gun control. I think it’s just commonsense,” Toomey said. “If you pass a criminal background check, you get to buy a gun, no problem. It’s the people who fail a criminal or a mental health background check that we don’t want to have a gun.”
The name of the agreement underscores its goal to try to appeal to both sides of the gun debate: The Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act. The bill would not require record-keeping of guns for private citizens, which is a key sticking point for critics.
The NRA was advised of the compromise and has been a part of the discussions. It remained an open question how forcefully the group would oppose the measure. A statement from the organization called it “a positive development” that the universal background checks that were part of President Obama’s gun bill would be replaced.
"The Public Safety and Second Amendment Rights Protection Act?!?" These assholes believe in the Second Amendment about like Adolf Hitler believed in the Constitution of the Weimar Republic or Joseph Stalin believed in individual liberty. Who do these collectivist mokes think they're fooling?

Read it carefully. "The bill would not require record keeping for private citizens"... That is a far cry from outlawing record keeping altogether. The phrase "not require" leaves the door open for monumental abuse. My interpretation is exactly the one that will be adopted by the FBI. Make no mistake, Toomey and the other sleaze bags were well aware of this throughout the negotiations. Why they are so hell bent to give Obama a victory is beyond me; especially after he has savaged them in the MSM. Screw 'em all!

Thanx Mike, for your continued outstanding leadership of the NRA!

Basically Chris Cox says that NRA is now "unequivocally opposed to S.649" and will be scoring cloture vote on the bill.

This is what happens when you shine the light of truth on their backroom deals.

The leftist losers's got snookered on this one. Private sales OK, can stop while traveling through states with strict gun laws, can use carry permit in place of background check. I hope you don't read anything past gunshow loophole, if you do you will see how you got taken for a ride.

Actually, they're fooling quite a few people. That's the root of the problem. It pays to remember what Herr Goebbels said about truth. The truth is never as important as what people believe. He also said it is not in the interest of the state to spread the truth. He may have been one of the worst examples of humanity to ever walk the planet, but he was an expert at shaping public opinion, and leaders since the fall of the Third Reich, including our current crop, have used his ideas on us.

Remember it was the "Firearm owner Protection Act" that prohibited civilian ownership of any full auto or select fire weapons made after 1986. If I recall the NRA was OK with that one as well.

Can someone please tell me HOW this "background check" is supposed to work? Exactly WHERE do they get this so called "background" from? And WHERE do the go to "check it"?
Thanks

So Toomey turns out to be the latest version of Arlen Specter, a traitor to the Constitution if there ever was one.
And that guy promoted himself as a true Constitutionalist.
We may as well face reality. They're coming for the guns and ammo....one way or another, this version of Government will run everything.
Picture the giant steamroller, racing downhill, crushing everyone in voting booths...reality.
They will not change course without an outside impetus to do so.
When?
