This is why I did not renew my NRA membership this year and joined GOA instead. If GOA ever forgets its mission and decides it is better to get cozy with the entrenched politicos, I'll be done with them, too.
The way I see it, the NRA may have been useful at some point but they have certainly outlived their usefulness and are now inevitably corrupted by money and influence.
Consider that the NRA receives the most financial backing when gun-hating liberal Democrats are in charge. So now we see the ironic position of the NRA actually supporting the gun-hating Democrats.
Like an attorney who makes his living off of corrupt traffic tickets, they have no desire to legitimately change the system. It is in their best interest to maintain the status quo and perpetuate the current holding action against government tyranny.
The longer it goes on, the longer they stay financially flush.
That's okay...more and more members are dropping their NRA memberships than ever before. They have lost all credibility with me, and my money goes to the GOA.
