Connecticut sends out the first confiscation letters.
Gun confiscations is one step closer in Connecticut. The mainstream media spins it as “one more chance” for non-compliant gun owners who failed to register their scary guns before the January 1 deadline.In reality, these letters - 106 to rifle owners, and 108 more to residents with standard capacity magazines – are the first step in the Connecticut State Police beginning to round up guns arbitrarily made illegal last year in that state. These guns include America’s favorite rifle, the AR-15 and magazines over 10 rounds, which include the standard capacity magazines made for that America’s favorite rifle.Failure to register is now a felony now in Connecticut.How long will it be before there is bloodshed over this law? We’re not sure, but we’re confident it is coming unless the law is rescinded or struck down by the courts.Mike Vanderboegh of the edgy Sipsey Street Irregulars released an open letter a couple of weeks ago, warning of what’s coming to Connecticut. By Ed Jacovino Journal InquirerWhen state officials decided to accept some gun registrations and magazine declarations that arrived after a Jan. 4 deadline, they also had to deal with those applications that didn’t make the cut.The state now holds signed and notarized letters saying those late applicants own rifles and magazines illegally.But rather than turn that information over to prosecutors, state officials are giving the gun owners a chance to get rid of the weapons and magazines.The state is sending letters to 106 rifle owners and 108 residents with high-capacity magazines saying they can destroy the guns and ammunition, sell them to a federally licensed gun dealer, move the items out of state or sell them to somebody out of state, or make arrangements to turn them over to local or state police.Those who fail to do so could face serious criminal penalties.Once people realize they can’t keep the guns and magazines, “they’re going to get rid of them,” Michael P. Lawlor, the undersecretary for criminal justice policy and planning to Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, says.Late applicantsThe Department of Emergency Management and Public Protection initially set a Jan 1 registration date for owners to declare guns and ammunition.But 266 rifle registrations and 506 magazine declarations made it to the state with postmarks after Jan. 1, and gun owners complained that post offices had closed early and without notice on Dec. 31.Lawmakers thought they’d need to pass a bill so the state could count all or some of those applications or extend the deadline. But Gov. Dannel P. Malloy decided this month that legislation wasn’t needed — as long as applications were postmarked by Jan. 4 and signed before Jan. 1, the state would accept them.And while the state won’t immediately prosecute those who missed the deadline, it isn’t ignoring that information, either.The rifle and magazine declarations will be included in information given to police responding to a certain address. “This would be a factor in deciding how to respond to different situations,” Lawlor says.Ron Pinciaro, executive director of the Connecticut Coalition Against Gun Violence, says the administration’s approach of sending a warning letter is suitable.“It’s fair. They’re giving them fair warning that they’re in noncompliance,” he says.Pinciaro adds that he’s glad a new bill wasn’t necessary — lawmakers were considering changes that would have extended the deadline beyond Jan. 4.“Now we’re saying, ‘OK, we gave them eight months, what else can we do for them now?’ That’s not the way any other law works,” he says.State lawmakers passed a law last year in response to the 2012 Newtown school shootings that banned the sale of some rifles and of magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. But they allowed those who own the guns and magazines to keep them as long as they registered the items with the state by Jan. 1. State residents registered 50,016 rifles. In addition, 38,290 Connecticut residents said they have high-capacity magazines.

No, really, tell me -- Supreme Court ducks three gun cases.
Considering the slim 5 - 4 majority rulings in the two most recent Second Amendment cases, and noting that elections have consequences (as Republicans appear to be doing their best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory), it may be preferable for gun owners if a decision from SCOTUS would come sooner rather than later. Regardless, all the court need do at present to ensure the continuation of Second Amendment infringements is ... nothing, as they just demonstrated.
Martin "Póg mo thóin" O'Malley's presidential wet dream.
Readers may recall my letter to Maryland Governor O'Malley during the Toys for Totalitarians campaign: "Póg mo thóin." Toys for Totalitarians delivery hits Maryland. My question for Gov. O'Malley: “Why is this idiot smiling?” As I wrote at the time:
We all know you are term-limited and cannot seek another stint as Maryland governor, but your presidential aspirations are almost legendary. I have to ask: What is it about you anti-firearm governors? You, Cuomo of New York, Malloy of Connecticut -- all of you all have the out-sized egos and even larger appetites for power that make you believe that you deserve to rightfully sit in George Washington’s chair. Even Hicklenlooper of Colorado, as disingenuously coy as he is, believes he belongs there and would drop his faux modesty in a New York minute if he thought he had the poll numbers. And all of you apparently think that citizen disarmament is a winning national issue that will get you to the Oval Office. One must ask, what are you all smoking? I have before me a copy of the photo of you at the bill signing ceremony on 16 May 2013. You are, as my Michigan farmer grandpa used to say, “grinning like a chimp.” Yet, as Emily Miller wrote in the Washington Times then:“Mr. O’Malley’s legacy will be an angry citizenry who lost their constitutional rights, firearm manufacturers taking jobs out of state and no change in the crime. He will have to justify this rash move to voters in his try for higher office.”Indeed you will. Of course, your national aspirations are hardly matched by your name recognition, but then you no doubt are hoping for some of Mike Bloomberg’s millions to help you correct that inconvenient disparity. And should your darkest of dark horse candidacies look like it has a prayer in 2016, no doubt Bloomie’s campaign donations will flow into your war chest. No doubt your attacks on the traditional liberties of American firearm owners are no impediment to success in any Democrat primary. If there’s one thing you collectivists agree upon it is disarming those who disagree with you politically. But just how do you think that will play in the general election? So, I look at your happy face as you signed a bill subverting the constitutional rights of your fellow Marylanders and I ask myself, “Why is this idiot smiling?”
Now we have Maryland media all atwitter with this story, "Gov. Martin O’Malley for president?" and this one, "Martin O’Malley Tempted For 2016 Presidential Race."
The Governor’s popularity is increasing and his approval numbers have been rising as he nears the culmination of his tenure in Maryland. 55 percent of Maryland residents approve of how Governor O’Malley is handling the executive seat of the state. His approval rating is a six-point increase from the previous year. Last year, Governor Martin O’Malley was the center of legislative quarrels involving the repealing of Maryland’s death penalty, passing stricter gun control laws and was leading an effort to legalize same-sex marriage. His approval numbers as governor have tempted him to make a run in the 2016 presidential race.While Governor O’Malley is enjoying inspiring job approval numbers, his approval falls along party lines at the end of the day. He is now pushing for an increase in the state’s minimum wage law – possibly the most partisan policy in politics. The breadth of this policy gap has turned him into one the most polarizing governors in the country.
At the end of the day, however, those poll numbers are hostage to the first deaths caused by his state police enforcing his firearm tyranny. This is the wet dream of arrogant appetite in search of his next political meal ticket. It will end, at best, merely with stained sheets. We may only hope they are not blood-stained as well. "Póg mo thóin" indeed.
Personally, I'm gonna miss him.

Several of my friends forwarded to me your column "Militant Republicans: Nope, you aren’t going to overthrow the government." They tend to take such "resistance is futile" columns seriously, and thus, they were taking you seriously. You describe yourself as a "freelance political consultant and campaign strategist in Northern Virginia." Ah, but comrade, you are so much more, and less, than that, now aren't you?
For a guy who describes himself elsewhere as a "hard-line leftist eagerly looking forward to the dictatorship of the proletariat" on a radio show that uses for its theme music The Internationale, well, "freelance political consultant" sort of underplays your ideology, doesn't it?
I paid you the compliment of listening to that show, and picked up that your main mission, as you stated it, was "holding the fascists at bay" and that "I'm okay with partisan if you're playing for the right team." You also stated that "ideas of freedom and liberty can be used to advocate whatever they want it to" and that you were impatiently "waiting for capitalism to dig its own grave."
You further stated that "we (Americans) are the parasites who are living off poor slaves in China" and that "the U.S. is a global parasite." Your unabashed socialist advocacy is quaint, if still dangerous. As I explained in a talk in New York state last year, the difference between communists and socialists is that a socialist is a communist who has not yet found his AK-47 or the will to use it, whereas a communist is a socialist who has his AK-47 firmly in hand and murder in his eye -- for the dictatorship of the proletariat, or the "New Soviet Man" or whatever collectivist lie the party, any party, is pushing these days.
Well, okay then. I'm rather in the middle of a lot of things right now, so I was reluctant to waste time on another muddle-headed firearms confiscationist extrapolating from his own cowardice the omnipotence of the federal government. However, since you have in these other venues more honestly outed yourself as a Marxist collectivist, if not a communist, then I AM the right guy to engage you, for I am an ex-communist myself, and I know all the lies -- especially the ones collectivists tell themselves as well as those they tell to others in service to advancing the "dictatorship of the proletariat."
Your first lie is found in the headline to your jeremiad, addressing it to something called "Militant Republicans." Since you capitalized the word, I'm assuming you meant members of the GOP in which case the term is an oxymoron on its face -- in 20 years I cannot recall meeting someone from that nis-named party who carried a GOP card and was by any description "militant" -- they are to a man, spineless, gutless, compromise-addicted Caspar Milquetoasts. Now I am a small "r" republican, in that I believe in the rule of law and the Founders' Republic, in free men and women and free markets, and that the Constitution extends to everyone regardless of race, creed, color or religion. In proof of that assertion, I am proud to present as evidence the certainty that I have been on the enemies lists of the previous three White Houses, regardless of party.
As we both know, the collectivist use of language is the principal way the argument is won, by framing the "reality" within it ahead of time -- intellectual preparation of the battlefield, as it were. This is where the term "assault rifle" came from, applied to semi-automatic rifles by your fellow collectivist Josh Sugarmann in order to advance his firearm confiscationist agenda. Thus your use of terms such as "militant Republican" and "fascist" is designed to create the strawmen you intend to defeat. Perfectly understandable, but not very admirable in someone who styles himself as an "intellectual." Facile and sloppy, really.
Here is the next series of lies, all in one paragraph:
This is the psychology of fascism. Like most psychological disorders, you can’t argue with it. You can only give these people a reality check, and remind them that democracy isn’t here to protect liberals from their rightful right-wing overlords. It’s here to protect the right, too.

First, is the application of "fascism" to folks who do not seek to dictate anything but are largely motivated by the desire to be left alone by an oppressive regime. The second is to characterize their beliefs in terms of mental disorder -- another favorite communist tactic. Third, you speak of "reality checks" in the same sentence as "democracy" but then we've already established out of your own mouth that you don't believe in "democracy" but rather in the dictatorship of the proletariat. Your abuse of the term democracy is of a part with "militant" and "fascist" -- just one more lie of false terminology to defeat your strawman opponent army. As far as "reality checks" go, I'll have more on that in a bit -- for you.
Your ignorance of military affairs as applied to what no doubt would be a Fourth Generation Warfare-style civil war in the United States is laughable. You may begin your tutorial with: "Tyrants beware. 4th Generation Warfare: How the next civil war will be fought."
Mind, at least you didn't threaten us with the omnipotence of the federal government and their big, bad invincible army as most of you "resistance is futile" types do. In any case, the military is made up, especially in the tip-of-the-spear outfits, mostly of OUR sons and daughters. We're the ones who raise our kids with the idea of service to the Republic. Issue them orders to go kill grandpa for the temerity of owning something the regime has decided he shouldn't have and see which way the government-issue rifles get pointed.
But then you don't believe there are enough of us who possess the courage of our convictions to resist. Strangely, this defeatism bleeds over to you own side when you said on the radio show: "I really do not see the people with their pitchforks doing anything about the elites."
Yes, but then we don't limit ourselves to pitchforks, do we?
You say in your article: "If the right ever gets around to exercising those 'Second Amendment remedies' . . . there isn’t going to be much of an America left to save." True, if it is fought according to Third Generation Warfare principles, but it won't be. Fourth Generation Warfare has for its strategic target the few inches of grey matter between the ears of the enemy war makers and decision takers. This target can either be influenced by moral suasion, inducement of fear of personal survival, or -- failing that -- directly by a precision-guided MatchKing bullet out of the rifle of a citizen. No collateral damage necessary. As I have written and said many times before:
They will fight to the last ATF agent or to the last oath-breaking soldier. Will they fight to the first senior bureaucrat, the second Congressman, the third newspaper editor, the fourth Senator, the fifth White House aide? Can they stand Bill Clinton's rules of engagement?
Since I am in a bit of hurry to get back to my work, I'll refer you to my essay on 4GW cited above for Bill Clinton's rules of engagement as they apply to you. Just understand that they DO apply to you. So it is not necessary for armed resistors to regime tyranny to kill indiscriminately as governments do. It is only necessary that they kill enough, well, people like you. Intellectual apologists of mass murder. Collectivist liars demonizing their enemies. Supporters, no doubt, of a "democratically elected" benevolent government's untrammeled right to attack its deranged, fascist opponents. Oh, you didn't mean that? Well, you'd better explain that to somebody before it's too late, hadn't you? That is a "reality check" you'd better contemplate.
You see, they don't look at it as "overthrowing the government." As I explained in my speech at the Alamo last October, they view your ilk as the revolutionaries who have been attacking the Founder's Republic quietly for over a century. They are in fact counter-revolutionaries to the collectivists' revolution. They are fighting for a restoration of the Founders' Republic.
My advice to you? If you can't give up Marxism, then at least try not to piss these people off by calling them lying names. There always is that Law of Unintended Consequences, isn't there? And these folks ain't no army of strawmen.

Ammo: How Much Is Enough When Carrying for Self Defense?
Remember, no survivor of a gunfight has ever wished he had gone into the fight with less ammunition.
For the KelTec P3AT (6 rds + 1) that I habitually carry in my right pants pocket, I have a spare 6-round mag of XTP .380 in my left. However, that is only to ensure that I have a clear path to the loaded Taurus PT-145 (10 rds + 1) in the center compartment of my man bag, which has nestled next to it a spare belt carrier with two mags. There are two other loaded spare mags in pockets on the inner portion of the bag. Hence, at any given time when I am out I have immediate access to 13 rds of XTP .380 and somewhat delayed access to 51 rds of .45 XTP. (On trips I throw a 50-round box of each caliber in the bag as refills JIC, and another spare loaded magazine for the KelTec.)
If I'm headed out of town, a folding stock AK and a Mossberg 500 go in the trunk. The AK fits nicely into an M60 barrel bag, with one loaded five rounder in the mag well, and a thirty rounder and a forty rounder in the side pockets of the bag. Next to it, I throw in a Chinese 5 pocket magazine pouch with shoulder strap. Total: 225 rounds 7.62x39 ball. The Mossberg riot gun rests in a soft-side guitar case with a bandoleer/belt made up of a mixture USGI and civilian shotgun pouches (don't believe in open loop Mexican bandido bandoleers since my experiences in the 90s showed that I could never find one that didn't shed rounds while maneuvering like Hansel and Gretal dropping a trail of bread crumbs). Also in the bag is an extra USGI 7-pocket bandoleer containing 5-round boxes of 2.75" 00 buckshot. All told there is something on the order of 110 rounds of 12 Gauge 2.75" and 3" buckshot and slugs (even some birdshot) in the case.
As Bubba said to Forrest Gump, "That's, that's about it."
