CWIS ammo is already lead free.
Maybe we should hunt with depleted uranium bullets in California?

This will also have an effect on the American lexicon. Cool movie tough guys will stop referring to their gun shot victims as having died of "lead poisoning." Arnold Schwartzenegger might say, "green just wasn't his color." A gangster movie would replace the usual, "eat lead copper." with "eat copper-tungsten alloy pig." It just doesn't have the same ring.

When I think of green bullets, verdegris unfortunately comes to mind.

Perhaps busmuth, depleted uranium, and other alloys might be found acceptable, but who knows. Firearms made since their inception are sighted for lead bullets.

A good hunter uses few rounds in a hunting season. Target shooters obviously use more. Since the steel shot law, very little lead is deposited in the environment by hunters.

Lead is necessary for most black powder firearms. Much lead has been recycled by people digging in berms, where allowed, to recover and reuse lead.

This California law is just another anti-gun measure camouflaged as environmental protection.

Meh. Remember the article from a couple weeks ago or so, where the ammo manufacturers were dismissing any impact from the Doe Run closure? And if the mil. is moving away from lead bullets, that means more lead available on the market for the rest of us.

I will note, however, that I wouldn't mind finding a good DIY method for jacketed bullets. I suspect, however, that it's not something that'd be easy to do in the garage.

Hey, this could backfire on the loyalist bastards. I like the idea of 3D printed ammo. ;)-
