Elmer Fudds in CT find the "intolerable act" not so intolerable. Dutifully lining up to be further victimized, CT gun owners comply with new tyranny.

State Police Receive First Registrations For Assault Weapons
David Codrea calls this "Molon Labia." These comments are very instructive, from both sides. For example:
Why confiscate?...They don't need to..You register..now we ban...Now you have to hand it over..they don't even need to come get it. Legal Battle?..your gun will be long gone before any judge decides this..and by then it's too late. I don't personally care what people do..it's there life..but if you don't draw the line right here with these new laws... by the next step it's already too late..
But then there's this one, from someone who apparently doesn't get it that being "law abiding" is no longer a viable strategy -- that his desire to be "law abiding" is being used against him by constitutional criminals:
As much as this law sucks it does not change that I have been, am currently, and remain a law abiding gun owner... PERIOD!
If I can ever get the fvck out of this shit hole state I will.
No douche bag keyboard commando pvssy is going to influence me into committing a crime.
LATER: Some folks in CT don't like to be called on their willing compliance.

The Northeast and several other States are already lost. We need to concentrate on securing what remains of the Free States. A fight is coming, let's win.

Sounds like a paid government shill. From my reading, I hear there are thousands of them, willing to do ANYTHING for a paycheck. Most societies average an element of 10% scum. America, in my opinion, is approaching 51%. Great future, heh?

My comment:

"You’re absolutely right. The SCOTUS is responsible to ensuring the liberty of the people when tyrannical laws are passed. If it was functioning in it’s appropriate manner, the patriot act, affordable care act, the recent government security bill and many other blatantly unconstitutional bills would have been struck down. They weren’t, which means the SCOTUS is no longer operating under it’s intended mandate. It’s become a second arm of the legislative and executive branches. Instead of giving a digital response to new or challenged laws, they will legislate from the bench and cherry pick their personal mandates. This is occurring more and more with the current court make up. The executive branch is also choosing which laws to obey or enforce, which also creates a quandary for the citizens who don’t have the same option. How do we, as the ultimate controllers of our government, get to choose what laws to obey? The government gets to investigate their own crimes, what about us? When do we choose to stop being subjects and start being citizen patriots?

Think about it people, vote with your feet! Leave and bastions of crime and deep seeded tyranny. Find a free state and go there, the liberals will rot on the vine without your dollars to support their socialist and communist beliefs!

Anyone here who stated that they are for confiscation, you are pro gun nuts too. You want armed thugs to enter the homes of law abiding citizens and take their property. Guess what, you will be next! Then the real fun begins. The patriots will start playing cowboys and liberals! Your bumper stickers will help us identify who is the enemy. We all know that these liberals will never get off the couch and do anything but protest. It goes against their lazy attitudes to actually do what it is they demand that armed officers do to us. They make demands that they be protected without considering themselves as a source of that protection. Please bring your unarmed selves over to my house and disarm me by protesting, holding your breath til you turn red and stomping your feet while holding a sign. Never gonna happen, you will need armed thugs to do your dirty work for your lazy asses.

Who will win? The unarmed panty waist liberals or the armed and prepared patriots? History dictates that the patriots will win, again!"

These people never learn, you must take their lives to change their minds.

The question I would ask is how would the State of Massa every know I had the thing(illegal assault weapon) to begin with, so why tell them? Just lock it up, never take it to the range or be seen with it by anyone, and of course never speak of it, until the law can be changed sometime down the road. Earlier this year that was my thinking when the possibility of a national ban/registration scheme was being cooked up in the Congress. Of course, Uncle Sam could eventually figure out what firearms I was in possession of by raiding every gun dealer in the country and amassing a huge data base from the 4473's but that would cost millions if not billions and take time. A lot of time.

When confronted with evil, Americans used to say "[W]e mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor" before conspiring to shoot enemies of liberty to death.

Oh well. It's not like the Founding Fathers can haunt us or anything, so we will be fine.

Plus, I'm positive the NSSF and NRA will litigate our way to freedom.

There are 4 possible actions:

1) Register. When the confiscation order comes, turn in your guns.

2) Register. When the confiscation order comes, fight when the knock on the door happens.

3) Don't register. When the knock on the door happens, surrender, give up your guns and go to jail.

4) Don't register. When the knock on the door happens, fight.

I don't consider 1 and 3 to be manly responses. If you are planning on doing those you might as well sell your guns right now to someone who has balls.

At first glance 2 and 4 appear to be about equivalent; what does it matter if you fight at the confiscation or at the registration step? As long as you fight? But if the state receives a very low registration rate, that deters a general confiscation order, I think. Not only that; a knock on the door is arguably less likely with 4 because you are not in the system; with 2 you are. Also, what you own is none of their damn business. So as long as you are determined to fight if necessary, it appears 4 is the better way to go.

I wouldn't be that concerned that a few people are trickling in to register as the article said. It's never possible to get 100% noncompliance.

Canadian's quickly learned the lessons of registration turning to restriction and then confiscation and when C68 came in many years ago requiring the registration of all long guns, they largely ignored it. Compliance was estimated at less than 10% and eventually the Government fiasco was scrapped due to huge costs, inaccuracies, and no demonstrable benefit.

Learn the lessons of registration in history

Law abiding citizens should remember that everything the Nazis did to the Jews was legal under German law.

Residents of California had to make a similar choice years ago. It's a big deal asking someone to go the civil disobedience route where firearms are involved. Possible consequence is a solo asymmetric firefight with a SWAT team at a time and place of their choice. If your neighbors aren't also on-board with the challenge too...

Got militia?

Keyboard commandos influencing them into committing crime?

Sheesh. The fool who wrote that apparently doesn't realize that it's lawmakers turning him from so called law abiding into so called criminal.

A longstanding example is FOID in Illinois. By the simple tic of a clock one goes from legal to illegal. Yup , the "right" to keep arms actually expires when FOID card expires. Interestingly, though "required by law to "decide on a case by case basis if a right is really worth insisting upon " within 30 days, the Illinois state police regularly take a hundred days to "comply".

The line must be drawn. I will no longer beg for permission slips - not for free exercise of inalienable enumerated RIGHTS!

Enough is enough.

The courts are not going to safeguard your liberties. If you actually read the Heller decision carefully (instead of relying the interpretations of wishful thinkers) you'll realize that the only thing that it actually guarantees is the possibility of having a revolver in your home. That's it. So called "dangerous and unusual" weapons can be banned. That means semi-automatic handguns, so called "assault weapons", standard capacity magazines etc. The Heller decision also didn't address licensing or permits. You can be required to pay high fees, take multi day training courses (something which is hard to do if you actually have a job) or jump through any other hoop the state deems necessary to exercise a God given right. You're not even guaranteed to be able to take your gun outside the home (i.e. to the range). Connecticut will eventually ban every firearm except for revolvers, bolt action rifles and double barreled shotguns and demand that everything else be turned in. With registration in place all they have to do is go door to door. For those who say that the Police will never do it, just ask the residents of New York City when David Dinkins was Mayor. He sent the Emergency Service Unit (the NYPD SWAT team) to collect firearms from recalcitrant gun owners when the City passed its local so called assault weapons ban.

register my"assualt rifle"never would I be so stupid.

Looks like it is time to overwhelm them with bogus applications. Start registering machine guns in the names of all the local politicians & public officials and include a nicely smudged fingerprint. I'm sure that some folks would be amazed to learn that the Mayor has 2 or 3 dozen AR-15's and even a 50 caliber machine gun. Did you know that the local High School Principal has an AK-47 in his car trunk. The list can go on and on, even including that Jackass down the street who lets his dog bark at night. I think each and every house needs to have 3 or more "Assault Weapons" (at least on paper).
This could be called "Operation Overload".

Plus paying the toll for his and his family's tickets.

Some of those commenters would have made 1st rate tories back in the 1770s. I seem to recall that the outcome of Cornwallis' surrender really sucked for the tories. Backing the losing side can be a stone bitch.

WA State has a whole pile of Fudds, Washington Arms Collectors, who are pushing their own single page "Protect Our Gun Rights" I-591, which calls for uniform federal standard background checks. Don't know what those might look like, but whatever they, the Nationalist gov. might come up with in the future, but it will be just fine with these good 'ol WAC boys.

From the article (emphasis mine):

The registrations apply to a broad class of firearms that are defined as assault weapons under the law because they have semiautomatic action and at least one military characteristic, typically a pistil grip. The law applies to, among others, the AR-15 type of rifles that are the same platform as the M-16 and M-4 military rifles.

Clearly a man who knows his stuff! Namely guns and the English language!
