Brightfire logo

Photobucket

Folks,

Here is the Brightfire logo, designed by a young friend of Absolved. What do you think?

Very nice.

Looks a bit too nazirific, like, no corporation would pick that as a logo. Except in the cartoons.

My first thought was 'hey, that's a white power cross in the background!'

Then I looked a little closer, and noticed it wasn't - quite.

I LOVE it! Almost makes me want to fight with them, just for the arse-kicking logo!
Well, almost. FWIW I felt the same way about Ravenwood!
Hope the GOOD guys get some snazzy graphics!!!!

I think I want to read the book already! With all the absolved chapters that were put out my anticipation is high.

Works for me.

I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the idea that the contract firms would come down on the wrong side of The Oath.

I figured since they were populated with many who took The Oath before you'd think it would stick.

Perhaps change the colors to reflect subdued uniforms. They would never have a patch with a white background.

I think you might get sued by NATO for trademark infringement. :-)
Ha! Looks great. When's the book coming out???

I like it.

Yup, those were my first thoughts... crosshairs, KKK, and a hint of swatika... suitably sinister.

+1 on the nazirific comment along with the white suprem Celtic cross comment.

If you are trying to portray Brightfire as a company associated with douche baggery and nit-wittery than this logo is perfect.

Don't like it. I agree with all the critical comments. Looks too much like the white power cross, or like old germanic or norse crosses.

Something more subtle, more professional, would be more believable.

With all the critical comments - you gotta give the person who attempted this SOME KUDOS.

"Mr/Ms Artist", on behalf of all the 'Absolved' fans (critical or not) - thanks for taking the initiative to try and create a logo for Brightfire!

I hope to see the fruits of your labor evident in the final draft of the logo.

I didn't really intend on making it look like a white power cross or anything like that. I picked it because it kinda looks like cross hairs and because of the meaning of it i found on this website

http://www.illuminati-news.com/0/symbols-and-their-meaning.htm

""SUN WHEEL or RING CROSS : A universal symbol found on ancient slabs in Nordic countries, in pre-Columbian America and in Mediterranean countries. "Today, it is used as a log by some new fascist organizations," according to the Dictionary of Symbols. [3] Like the swastika and other sun symbols, it represents power and supremacy.""

I figured that because these are bad people and a very bad organization, they deserve a sinister looking logo.... plus i created this logo using microsoft paint, this is about the best i could make it

I was also kinda ignorant in knowing about the white power symbols and stuff until i started really looking at it after reading some of the comments

You made that using MS paint? Wow...that's really good!
The only thing I could suggest would be to maybe thin out the 'cross hairs' a bit and made them look more like a reticle.

Actually, a logo like that would probably be typical of a government-subsidized agency/contractor. Remember DARPA's "Information Awareness Office", and its original logo?

Please do not even think about feeling apologetic about your creation; it is an excellent logo for the bad guys, it IS a fictitious group obviously based, loosely, on Blackwater and no one knows that their logo would look like... so your interpretation is as good as any.

No, the operators would not use a white patch on uniforms, yes, they would use a subdued version, but as a corporate logo on buildings, stationary, vehicles, this would be much more accurate.
After all, our American flag is bright - red, white and blue - but our troops use a subdued version in combat.
Finally - lest you think anything else about the white power symbols - Celtic crosses were in use as a Christian symbol in the burial grounds of my mother's ancestors, milleniae before white power was ever heard of. Likewise, the sign of the rainbow was given many centuries before aggressive homosexual groups used it for a symbol. So - it is what it is, no more and no less. You did well.

Since "Brightfire" is a hamfisted reference to Xe (formerly Blackwater Worldwide), I figured that their logo should be more of a ridiculous parody of the old Blackwater Bearpaw logo.

Maybe after the FA bombing incident, Brightfire can hire marketing analysts and try to "soften" their logo as (Blackwater)Xe did, and then people can submit parody alternatives (Hello Kitty Brightfire logo?), as noted here:
http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/blackwater_softens_logo_/

Then they can later change their name to Non (if you'll pardon the pun and reference to an inert gas).

What a hoot!

On second thought, maybe Xe is a lead-in to the rest of the word (xenophobe) meaning that they're afraid of everyone, hence the whole world has been turned into "the enemy". With that thought in mind, no one is safe - not even their masters.
