There are exceptions we may call prodigies that start politicking earlier.

These people are more qualified to engage on the cocktail circuit, but they do not lead us to victory during war.

I would note that, with only one exception, and he was more dramatic actor than anything else, whenever we have found this nation in a war, the pre-war military hierarchy is replaced with soldier/warriors. When we have failed to do that we have lost.

What we have now at the Pentagon are politicians. Is it any wonder they wish to remain PC and perhaps rise to the political appointment of a member of the Joint Chiefs?

Not so of our commanders currently in the field, but whereas in times past their opinions and viewpoints would be sought and satisfied, if possible, they are now fettered by people in CONUS, who value their careers and possibilities for advancement more than they do the fortunes of the nation, the well-being of the troops, and victory. Should support of any of those considerations be politically disadvantageous to our armchair cocktail soldiers of high rank it is eschewed.

So, I am not surprised that they have cut off their own intelligence capabilities at the knees. It just isn't "politically correct".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7575061201749703300.post-86323450283584285602009-01-15T20:36:00.000-06:002009-01-15T20:36:00.000-06:00The ordinary military careerist quits being a sold...The ordinary military careerist quits being a soldier above the rank of Lt.Col. and becomes a politician.

Some are what we might call prodigies and reach that stage earlier.

I would note that with only one exception when this nation has been in a war for survival, not brush wars, but a real war, the people at the top of the military hierarchy before the war are replaced during the war with soldiers and/or warriors. The peacetime general is more suited to engage on the cocktail circuit. They are not the people who take us to victory.

I would also note that when we have not replaced the pre-war military hierarchy with a warrior, we have lost.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7575061201749703300.post-13255936643783347002009-01-15T17:00:00.000-06:002009-01-15T17:00:00.000-06:00"At the height of World War II, would a faculty me..."At the height of World War II, would a faculty member at the Army War College have even considered attempting to defend Nazi fascism or Japanese imperialism, as War College professor Sherifa Zuhur has now done with Hamas?"

Is the Army War College under allegiance to Israel in your view? I didn't realize the US Congress had declared war on Hamas.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
