The result is very good. And yep, I have tried it for fuel. Works great. Will also burn in an Alcohol stove/heater better than denatured. But, what a tremendous waste of an outstanding medicinal beverage. Some are buying gold and silver for the hard times. Powder and shine make more sense to me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7575061201749703300.post-36383709328654429412009-08-15T20:24:56.836-05:002009-08-15T20:24:56.836-05:00When this article was first posted it made me sad....When this article was first posted it made me sad... it reminded of a special person in my life. I've been thinking about him since then - so I thought I'd come back here and tell a little about him.

When I was a kid I loved to roam the woods, climb trees, explore caves - and there was plenty of room to do that over here on the side of the mountain. And no one would mess with you cause no one lived there. A few people lived on the edge of the mountain, and we became good friends. I would ride my little rice-grinder over there, park at their house, and take off into the woods. I was in heaven.

Many times I'd end up at AC's house. He'd wander off somewhere and come back with a milk jug - filled with the finest "white" you ever tasted. AC would take a big gulp and say, "ahhh, my white tastes like spring water - here boy", and he was right... except I didn't take big gulps - learned that lesson the hard way. We'd talk for a while, he'd gulp, and I'd sip. Then I wouldn't be able to hold back and I'd go runnin off the side of the mountain - invincible. AC said he found me passed out in the top of a tree several times - but I don't remember it so I'm not sure about that.

AC also grew pot - really good stuff. He didn't smoke it himself - just liked to grow it. He gave it to his sons - and sometimes to me. I always thought he did it just to thumb his nose at the gov'ment - and that impressed me. He always told me to treat the "white" with respect and not get hooked on it - that I'd be better off just smokin pot. I paid attention.

I also became friends with AC's sons and some of their friends and actually had the privilege of riding with them a few times. That was quite a sight - me on my little rice-grinder and them on their hogs. But they always took up for me. All those guys have a special place in my heart... especially Pete... but that's another story.

Some folks then may have thought AC was a very bad influence on a teenager. But I thought he was a wise old man, and I loved him.

AC's no longer with us. And neither is Pete...

I miss em.Mike Fosterhttp://mfoster.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7575061201749703300.post-2024539681179164122009-08-14T21:42:17.659-05:002009-08-14T21:42:17.659-05:00Sorry to learn of the loss of a Good Man.

If you want to run what comes off the still, remember that the water content will over time cause corrosion in aluminum carbs, and that some rubber products in older vehicles (fuel lines, fuel pump diaphragm, accelerator pump) really don't hold up well with alcohol. Also, it's perfectly legal to run a still for fuel production - so long as you pay the fibbies their tax, and denature the product immediately on production. He is a Western NC boy and not an East Tennessean. He was from Maggie Valley in Haywood County. While he may have died in TN, he was a North Carolinian.

Here is a story by "Johnny Knoxville" about Popcorn. Note the foot stone for his grave. I think he was talking about the ATF's.

http://www.jackassworld.com/blog/2009/03/17/news-marvin-popcorn-sutton-rip/John Richardsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03151468462458613615noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7575061201749703300.post-3529764760547618452009-08-14T14:24:55.077-05:002009-08-14T14:24:55.077-05:00Amazing story, Mike.

Moonshine can sure come in handy for lots of things if times get tough. It's a good sterilizing agent; good anesthetic; can be used to barter or pay for stuff you need; and you can add it to gasoline to stretch your gas supplies when there's not much of it around.

What a sad story though. I'll bet Jim Cavanaugh never thinks twice about the ruin he's visited on so many folks.
