If we find ourselves in a SHTF scenario, though, anyone wearing a badge who hasn't previously demonstrated themselves to be my ally in some sort of affirmative and personal way becomes my enemy. If public order breaks down and a group of cops I don't know personally shows up at my doorstep, I am going to assume that their purpose in coming is to do one or more of:

1. Kill me
2. Rape my wife. Or me. Or both.
3. Steal my property.

I will act accordingly.

My respect for "duly constituted authority", you ask? Why, my position on "duly constituted authority" recalls Gandhi's answer when asked his opinion of Western civilization: "I think it would be a very good idea". A class of persons systematically empowered to murder and rape and steal with absolute impunity is not a "duly constituted authority" in a Constitutional republic, nor are the non-psychopathic members of that class owed any special allegiance for their lack of psychopathy, until they act affirmatively to bring their brethren into line with the standards of civilized behavior they expect the rest of us to follow.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7575061201749703300.post-79194661422585730722011-10-31T13:20:43.662-05:002011-10-31T13:20:43.662-05:00Amen Mike!Amen Mike!Sail Mannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7575061201749703300.post-70957229828224469172011-10-30T23:36:36.971-05:002011-10-30T23:36:36.971-05:00AP - "...it is not my point to target the enf...AP - "...it is not my point to target the enforcers of tyranny." Authority cannot be legitimized by such things, which are far from being universal truths.

The only way authority can have any legitimacy, is when the people subject to it explicitly agree to be subject to it.

When we get over our current tyranny, there will be smaller political entities of many varieties. At least some of them will be legitimate because their people agree with them. It does not matter what form these take - even communist communities can be legitimate if the people agree with it and can bail out if they withdraw their agreement.Paul Xnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7575061201749703300.post-44072392802028773672011-10-30T08:21:02.513-05:002011-10-30T08:21:02.513-05:00For Anonymous at 7:17 PM:

Or do you REALLY believe that this country's "Legal System" would let those officers be successfully sued?

And all the cops need to do to make FUTURE arrests stick is to shop them to a more favorable magistrate. Or do you REALLY think they will have a difficult time finding one of those in Tennessee?
