Bill Maher: It’s ‘Ridiculous,’ ‘Quaint’ & ‘Nonsensical’ to Think 2nd Amendment Can Prevent Tyranny.

Try it and find out.
“Can we get to, first of all, how ridiculous it is for people to think that the Second Amendment protects them from tyranny. Didn’t Waco solve that? We just had the anniversary a couple of weeks ago. Remember Waco? You know what they had in Waco? They had like 1.9 million rounds of ammunition; they had .50 caliber machine guns; they had grenades…What did the government have? Everything else. The winner and still champion – the United States government. Thinking the Second Amendment protects you from tyranny is like thinking the First Amendment protects you from Thor. It’s quaint. It’s ridiculous. It’s nonsensical. And they never get called [on] it!
You know, we've had 20 years to internalize the lessons of Waco. Does this "cowardly little Borg pustule" (David Codrea's description of Maher) think we will sit still to be defeated in detail? Kill all they send, and kill the warmakers who send them.

The problem with Waco was that Koresh played/ fought by gentleman's rules. The BATFEces didn't. And the BATFEces have continually tipped their hand and exposed their methods and methodology ever since.
Just because "we" haven't had another battle since Waco, doesn't mean "we" haven't learned the same lessons.
No quarter. No mercy. No foregiveness.

Sure wouldn't hurt my feelings if he would be taken off the air. The wormy little "useful idiot" continues to thumb his nose at free men..... I wonder if he understands the "Law of Unintended Consequences".

Millions of rounds?
Pretty sure not.
No machine guns, no .50BMG, but I suppose they could have chased away the feds who DID have machine guns by pelting them with tomatoes and dummy grenades. The dummy grenades that were already attached to wall plaques would have really hurt if the feds hadn't been wearing helmets.

Typical celebrity with the reasoning capacity of a 4 year old.

As someone recently said, Waco was a long time ago. And Bill, you're old enough to know better...People have changed, government is universally despised and viewed as less than pond scum, and the main stream media is recognized for what they are--the lapdog for liars and those fronting their own agenda. The problem for you, Bill, is that now we are all Branch Davidians.

Today, Waco spans coast to coast and the "fringe elements" that would be pursued are the productive components of this society. The "The Sinful Messiah" is broadcast daily by the left, yet even the 47% don't accept their lies.

Bill, it seems you're just using that "marginalize" component of your Alinsky self. Wake up and smell the roses...just in case you're wrong.

One week he laments the growing police state and the next he turns around and slams the one thing keeping that growth from total takeover. Maher is a fool.

I'm with FedUp on this one. Bill is like a female dog licking her own ass.

He just says what they all think but won't say, lest there be a realization by the public of who these ass-holes really are.

There can be no dialogue or debate because they do not embrace America, they embrace Marx and want to destroy America, to impose Marx. And they will continue to try until they have reason to stop.

I wasn't aware that the 2nd Amendment was there to "prevent" or "protect from" tyranny. My understanding has always been that the purpose of the 2nd was to ensure that the people retain the wherewithall to REPLACE a government which has time and time again has [evinced] a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism. To the extent that the threat of popular uprising might possibly deter some despotic tendencies of those in power, the 2nd might be said to prevent or protect from tyranny. But the 2nd exists solely to allow the people to "throw the bums out" if needed.

Mike,
This might be a good time to remind everyone (including/especially the sexless drones from the various alphabet agencies who monitor your blog) of exactly what the ROE will be should those nincompoops succeed in pushing us to insurrection and rebellion.

No need to allow this. I just posted it here to give a better chance of being seen.

Hang in there, Dutchman.

Maher is just another Streicher wannabe itching to get his neck fitted for some rope. I'm with BadCyborg and everything he said.

Maher is a punk through and through; He doesn't have the intellect to even grasp the concept of unintended consequences! One day, possibly soon, Maher will be rudely awakened by someone who has compiled a list of Benedict Arnolds, and when TSHTF he'll work his way down that list to Maher, and deliver some battlefield justice. Whether he's hung slowly from a bungee strap or tossed into a wood chipper makes no difference to me. The enemy within needs to be surgically removed like the cancer they are!

Bill Maher should take a trip back through time...

1975: The Fall of Saigon, the USA has 58,000 deaths in the hot jungles of that god-forsaken hellhole.

1979: The Soviet Union invades Afghanistan. 1989: The Soviet Union leaves Afghanistan, 14,500 of their sons die under Afghan skies.

Both of those two wars show that a the super powers of the world are nothing more than paper tigers. All their opponents have to do is survive another day and not lose.

One man by the name of Chris Dorner shut down the nation's largest police force (LAPD) in a manhunt for him. Two bombers in Boston put an entire city on lock-down and martial law -- those two if they had been smarter could have gotten away as they had a solid 24-72 hour head-start.

What do you think will happen when 3-10, former military guys get together, and decide that things have gone far enough with the infringements of their rights, and start taking shots at police officers? What do you think's going to happen when police officers, coast to coast, start having their brains blow out while they're sitting in their squad cars doing paperwork and have their squad cars riddled with bullet-holes?

How do you think the press will react when they inevitably come out in favor of the state in that kind of upcoming conflict, and reporters start getting blown away as well?

What do you think will happen when the politicians who wrote and passed these laws end up being blown away as they're walking out their front doors to go to work?

That's what the upcoming civil war that the anti-gun nuts are pushing us towards will look like -- It'll actually be much much worse...

It will make the First Civil war of 1861-1865 look tame.

It's going to be long, draw-out, and bloody.
